SUMMARY:Esthetic Foundations 1 – Restoring Anterior Teeth (Hands-On)
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nThis Dawson Academy continuing education esthetics course is a hands-on program that will assist the cosmetic dentist in taking those critical steps in accomplishing anterior restorative procedures at their highest level. Restoring anterior teeth and managing dental esthetics with predictability\, truly represents the culmination of our understanding of how this intricate system is designed as we attempt to emulate what nature has originally created. Through the use of lecture\, clinical videos\, and hands-on exercises the restorative dentist will develop the confidence in diagnosis\, material selection\, preparation design and the creation of key indices to insure predictability in delivering exquisite anterior restorations. \nThe clinician will have the opportunity to transition the knowledge gained in the “2D” treatment planning mode into a “3D” dental blue print through the use of mounted diagnostic models and the minimal wax technique. The modulation and understanding of Smile Design in an advanced level of dental treatment planning affords the ability to begin with the end in mind\, creating an esthetic result that reflects a functionally sound design and insures durability. \nThe critical information obtained in creating this dental blue print will allow for the fabrication of reduction guides and provisional matrixes to increase your efficiency\, productivity and accuracy chairside. We also provide some key concepts in the single most important step in insuring predictability in indirect restoration\, creating exquisite prototypes. Special emphasis will be placed on contouring the provisional restoration\, and why this is key to long-term functional and esthetic success in every case you perform. Finally\, we will discuss with you in detail the cementation and adhesive options so that the proper course of action is matched with each material. \nThe prime focus of this program is to provide the essential skills and protocols to enhance the clinicians’ ability to create beautiful anterior restorations. (Limited to 20 dentists) \nLearning Objectives \n\nUnderstand the key concepts of Smile Design relative to Global\, Macro and Micro criteria and their assessment related to function and phonetics\nDevelop the skill in creating a “Dental Blue” that will enable the production of key indices and stents that will facilitate preparation and provisonalization\nUnderstand the fluid concepts of preparation design as it relates to functional needs\, esthetics and the parameters of new materials.\nLearn an effective and efficient Provisionalization technique\nUnderstand the key elements related to the assessment of the prototypes to insure predictability in the final restorations\nLearn the key elements in laboratory communication to insure a predictable result\nUnderstanding the concepts of adhesion and the clinical protocol in the luting of final restorations

SUMMARY:Full Arch Dentistry
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nOne of the most important skills a restorative dentist can acquire is to know how and why to change the vertical dimension of occlusion and when it is appropriate to do it. Cases involving extreme wear\, occlusal plane problems as well as alterations to the steepness of the anterior guidance are all cases we at The Dawson Academy show\, and discuss. Yet the specific details of how to work through a case when all the teeth are prepared can be daunting. \nThis two day\, hands-on on class will take each participant through a step-by-step protocol that will go from preparations to delivery. Special emphasis will be placed on fabricating exquisite provisional prototypes and how they are utilized to communicate precise esthetic and occlusal goals to the dental lab. Bite registrations techniques will be understood\, so that the lab will be able to cross mount the die model with the provisional model. Additionally\, techniques to provisionally alter the vertical using composite resin and other modalities will be understood so that patients with financial obstacles can be treated appropriately with properly segmented treatment plans. Every participant is invited to bring a complex case to treatment plan\, and phase. \nLearning Objectives \n\nWhy occlusal wear and erosion need to be addressed\, and why the progression of tooth structure loss leads to more complex problems.\nTo learn when it is appropriate to open the vertical dimension of occlusion\, and when it should be approached with great caution.\nHow to utilize the Dawson Diagnostic Wizard to communicate precise esthetic and functional tooth contours to the dental laboratory\, for the fabrication of an optimal diagnostic wax up.\nHow to transfer the diagnostic wax up into the mouth while creating provisional restorations\, and how to efficiently dial these restorations in for optimum esthetics phonetics and function.\nHow to take “verticentric” bite registrations to precisely cross mount the die model with the temp models.\nDigital technologies that that the lab can utilize to duplicate the doctor and patient approved provisional contours-the key to predictable results.\nHow to open the vertical dimension with multiple “long term provisional” techniques so that complex treatment plans can be phased.\nTo recognize when changing the tooth position with Invisalign or traditional orthodontic treatment\, prior to the restorative phase\, will improve the predictability of the end result.\nWhy many worn dentition cases will require esthetic crown lengthening\, and how to know if gingivectomy or boney recontouring will be the appropriate modality. Special emphasis will be placed on treatment planning the precise position of the gingival contours as well the utilization of laser technology when performing these procedures.
