SUMMARY:Esthetic Foundations 1 – Restoring Anterior Teeth (Hands-On)
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nThis Dawson Academy continuing education esthetics course is a hands-on program that will assist the cosmetic dentist in taking those critical steps in accomplishing anterior restorative procedures at their highest level. Restoring anterior teeth and managing dental esthetics with predictability\, truly represents the culmination of our understanding of how this intricate system is designed as we attempt to emulate what nature has originally created. Through the use of lecture\, clinical videos\, and hands-on exercises the restorative dentist will develop the confidence in diagnosis\, material selection\, preparation design and the creation of key indices to insure predictability in delivering exquisite anterior restorations. \nThe clinician will have the opportunity to transition the knowledge gained in the “2D” treatment planning mode into a “3D” dental blue print through the use of mounted diagnostic models and the minimal wax technique. The modulation and understanding of Smile Design in an advanced level of dental treatment planning affords the ability to begin with the end in mind\, creating an esthetic result that reflects a functionally sound design and insures durability. \nThe critical information obtained in creating this dental blue print will allow for the fabrication of reduction guides and provisional matrixes to increase your efficiency\, productivity and accuracy chairside. We also provide some key concepts in the single most important step in insuring predictability in indirect restoration\, creating exquisite prototypes. Special emphasis will be placed on contouring the provisional restoration\, and why this is key to long-term functional and esthetic success in every case you perform. Finally\, we will discuss with you in detail the cementation and adhesive options so that the proper course of action is matched with each material. \nThe prime focus of this program is to provide the essential skills and protocols to enhance the clinicians’ ability to create beautiful anterior restorations. (Limited to 20 dentists) \nLearning Objectives \n\nUnderstand the key concepts of Smile Design relative to Global\, Macro and Micro criteria and their assessment related to function and phonetics\nDevelop the skill in creating a “Dental Blue” that will enable the production of key indices and stents that will facilitate preparation and provisonalization\nUnderstand the fluid concepts of preparation design as it relates to functional needs\, esthetics and the parameters of new materials.\nLearn an effective and efficient Provisionalization technique\nUnderstand the key elements related to the assessment of the prototypes to insure predictability in the final restorations\nLearn the key elements in laboratory communication to insure a predictable result\nUnderstanding the concepts of adhesion and the clinical protocol in the luting of final restorations

SUMMARY:TMD Patients: Diagnosis & Treatment
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nIn Examination and Records and Treatment Planning Functional Esthetic Excellence\, a systematic process for conducting a comprehensive examination\, taking diagnostic records and developing a treatment plan was introduced. This process works for the majority of patients which have healthy TMJ’s. This dental course will pick up where those courses left off and teach a systematic process for advanced records when TMD pathology is suspected. A systematic process for the evaluation\, differential diagnosis\, treatment and management of patients exhibiting signs and symptoms of TMD will be developed. Phase one treatment will focus on occlusal splint therapy. Splint designs will be selected based on the suspected joint diagnosis. Phase two will focus on the definitive treatment steps required to establish a lasting and comfortable occlusion. \nLearning Objectives \n\nUnderstand when TM joint imaging is indicated and how to order it.\nDifferentiate between different imaging options\, understand what the MRI and CT-Scans are showing and how this information relates to the signs and symptoms of TMD.\nUnderstand what insurance codes\, including medical\, to use when treating TMD problems.\nRecognize when to use occlusal splint therapy\nDifferentiate between different types of splints and when to use which type.\nHow to fabricate and refine an occlusal splint.\nUnderstand the basic concepts of anatomy\, physiology\, and neuromuscular relationships that must be considered in the development of an individualized management plan.\nHow to efficiently and profitably schedule splint therapy.\nHow to create an appropriate fee structure for service.\nHow to help patients understand the diagnosis and treatment needed so they will accept your recommendations.\nHow to create a treatment plan for definitive long term care

SUMMARY:A Challenge to Natural Teeth - Hands-on Layering to Zirconia Frame
DESCRIPTION:Summary\nThis course will be a hands-on workshop for fabricating\n#9-11 three unit bridge with the use of Zirconia frame. Centrals\, laterals and canines constitute large portion of a smile\, which can affect the entire facial expression dramatically both positively and negatively. Therefore\, numerous factors need careful consideration in the treatment process of these areas. For example\, unlike a single crown restoration\, a bridge requires finer attention in the balance of esthetics and mechanical function. This workshop will allow discussion time with the audience to answer any questions and explain procedural steps in detail. \nKey Concepts\n• Tricks in design concept for #9-11 (3 unit bridge) to patient’s face and dental arch \n• Balancing facial features\, lips\, and dentition \n• How to determine the right internal structure design \n• Property of zirconia crown and its use in clinical practice \n• Techniques for rich color expression and internal stain adjustments \n• Technique to reproduce natural teeth moisture in prosthetic crowns \n   (MCT: Moisture Conceler Technique) \n• Texture and luster control technique—shape adjusting to final polish \n• Analyzing isolation and 3D effect in practice

SUMMARY:The Art & Science of Equilibration – Hands-On
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nThis Dawson Academy hands-on course provides continuing education for dentists who need to implement a process of occlusal therapy within their dental practice. Equilibration is a cornerstone for treatment of occlusal disease\, and as such\, any dentist who wishes to practice complete dentistry must know how to perform all aspects of it correctly. As a participant\, you will discover the importance of the trial equilibration and be given the opportunity to adjust several different case types to insure your complete understanding of the material presented. This complete dentistry dental continuing education course includes lectures\, videos of patient treatment\, and hands-on exercises to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to return home and implement occlusal treatments in your practice on Monday morning. \nLearning Objectives \n\nDesign a stable\, minimal stress occlusion (lines on the front\, dots on the back)\nRecognize when to equilibrate your patient\, and when other options should be considered\nIdentify how to schedule the equilibration appointment\nChoose appropriate articulation paper to mark each type of occlusal interference\nAssess when an occlusal splint should be considered prior to reshaping\, repositioning or restoring\nEvaluate how to efficiently equilibrate the natural dentition\nSelect\, train and work with a dental assistant to efficiently adjust an occlusal splint and/or equilibrate the dentition\nVerify when to use a full arch occlusal splint\, and when to use an anterior deprogramming appliance
